Boston Public Library
A Boston Public Library card is a must-have for families. The Honan-Allston branch is the closest to HBS. At the circulation desk you can get a library card with identification and proof of current address.  With your new library card, you can reserve free or discounted tickets to many of the local museums.

PJ Library
Free Jewish book club for kids. Each child gets a new book or CD each month. (There's no catch, it's privately funded.) Signing up for this club also adds you to an email list this sends out information about upcoming Jewish events for kids in the Boston area.

Boston Children's Museum
Four floors of interactive exhibits for children of all ages. Also includes an enclosed Play Space for children under 3. Discounted parking is available at the Farnsworth Parking Garage for $8 for the day. Fridays after 5 pm, museum tickets are $1 per person. The museum is located 3 blocks from the Red Line South Station stop.

Duck Tours
Ride a World War II amphibious duck on a tour of Boston, then splash into the Charles River for a short cruise. Boats board at the Prudential Center and the Museum of Science.

Boston Common & Public Garden
The Public Garden has two things to draw kids: life-sized sculptures of Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings from "Make Way for Ducklings" (Mrs. Mallard is large enough for kids to sit on) and the Swan Boats, which take you for a leisurely "cruise" around the Lagoon (including the island Mrs. Mallard was getting back to). Across the street is the Boston Common, where the Frog Pond offers a spray pool in the summer and skating in the winter.

YMCA Swimming Lessons
Central Square YMCA offers swimming lessons for young children from 6 months and up. It is $80.00 for non-members for 8 weeks of class.

BU Swimming Lessons
Boston University offers swimming lessons for Toddlers (first course starting at 6 month of age).

Beyond the 4th Wall
In central square, my son takes an "art class" for 2 years old, he loves it so much that I regret to leave Boston in June : "With a different theme each week, children will start by creating process oriented art projects such as collages, play dough sculptures, water color silks, and more. After a brief snack and story time, we end the class with singing and dancing in our music and movement section."

There is a great little park over by the Honan Allston Library. It's just down one of the side streets right next to the library. It's a hidden gem. When it's warm my kids and I like to pick up donuts from Dunkin Donuts and then head over there to eat them and play.

Artesani Park
